Daniel was a longshoreman and was a charter member of the
Longshoreman's Union in Astoria in 1918. He emigrated
to Canada from FInland, came to the US through northern
Michigan and eventually ended up in Astoria, OR.

Kaarina worked as an upstairs maid for the Sanborn family
which owned the Sanborn Packing/Seafood Company in Astoria.
She came to the US from Finland though Ellis Island, NY in
1919 at age 21, being sponsored by her cousin, Gus Helberg.
Gus owned Helberg's Drugstore in Astoria.

Daniel and Kaarina met in Astoria. Daniel's first wife
Phoebe was Kaarina's best friend. Daniel and Phoebe did not
have any children. Phoebe died, Daniel married Kaarina and
they had a long life together.

Daniel and Kaarina had 8 children (3 daughters, 5 sons)

Kathleen worked as an operator and supervisor at Pacific
Northwest Bell until 1975, as a medical records clerk at
Kitsap Physicians Service for 19 years and was a
mother/homemaker.

Bill was teacher at Central Kitsap Junior High School, Navy
Yard City Elementary and Bremerton Junior High School.
During the summers he delivered milk for Arden Dairy and was
a bartender at the Quarterdeck Restaurant in Bremerton.

Kathleen and Bill lived in Bremerton most of their life.

Kathleen had 1 child (a son) from a previous marriage, Jack
Silver. Kathleen and Bill had 2 children together (2
daughters)
