Daniel was a longshoreman and was a charter member of the Longshoreman's Union in Astoria in 1918.  He emigrated to Canada from FInland, came to the US through northern Michigan and eventually ended up in Astoria, OR.

Kaarina worked as an upstairs maid for the Sanborn family which owned the Sanborn Packing/Seafood Company in Astoria.  She came to the US from Finland though Ellis Island, NY in 1919 at age 21, being sponsored by her cousin, Gus Helberg.  Gus owned Helberg's Drugstore in Astoria.

Daniel and Kaarina met in Astoria.  Daniel's first wife Phoebe was Kaarina's best friend.  Daniel and Phoebe did not have any children.  Phoebe died, Daniel married Kaarina and they had a long life together.

Daniel and Kaarina had 8 children (3 daughters, 5 sons)

Bob was in the Air Force for 10 years, honorably discharged in December 1950.  He began working for Peavey Oil Company afterwards (his wife's family's business).

Elaine was a homemaker until 1967, when she began taking various office jobs.  Her first job was at McMinnville Hospital and eventually she ended up working at Peavey Oil Company along with her sister after the death of their father.  Elaine only worked there for a short time, then let her sister buy out her share.

Bob and Elaine started out in Portland, OR then moved to Corvallis, to Camp Adair, to Tigard, to McMinnville, to Tigard, and then ended up back in McMinnville.

Bob and Elaine had 3 children (2 daughters, 1 son)

Karin, Walter, Elizabeth
