I
began to write our annual Christmas letter in 1982. At that time I had just moved back to Grand Rapids, Michigan after spending a
little over a year in Seattle for Lear Siegler supporting
projects at Boeing. I felt like I was losing touch with my high
school and college friends and relatives, but there just wasn't
time to write everyone a personalized Christmas card. The
annual "generic" Christmas letter was my solution to that
problem. Reading back through them is almost equivalent to a
personal biography (and for Nora as well starting in 1990).
I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to duplicate the
exact format (font type, graphic sizes and layout) of the
original letters for the website. Each year when drafting the
annual Christmas letter I try very hard to make them entertaining as well as informative. We
hope you enjoy them!
