I took a weeks vacation and went to
Park City, Utah with a girlfriend and met my next oldest brother,
Dave, his wife and a few of their friends there. After some of
those slopes I was a confirmed ski-to-die member, amazed at my lack of
fear (some people call it stupidity) ...
Went on numerous camping excursions
to the San Juan Islands, the Sun Lakes in eastern Washington (very
different climate from Seattle) and made many grueling hikes up Mount
Rainier and a few other mountains in the Cascade range ...
Memorable parties, co-ed softball,
roller skating around the University of Washington, bike trips up to
the Chateau St. Michelle winery, horseback riding in the country, 'rockin'
out' and dancing at many of the drinking establishments in the city,
watching the Seattle Supersonics shoot the hoops at the Kingdome ...
Attending the Seattle Arts Festival
(locally known as BUMBERSHOOT because it rains every year), saw the
Seattle Symphony (incredible), frequenting the finer restaurants,
shopping at the waterfront (lots of different shops), attempting to
stay in shape lifting weights, playing racquetball and volleyball and
attended various church functions. Whew! ... managed to cram a
year's worth of activities in a few sentences.
I had a feeling my company would
'recall' me back to Michigan after a while so I attempted to do as
much as possible with my recreational time.
Well ... the hunch was right ... I
leave the 19th to return to Grand Rapids for work on system and
software design for a new Flight Management Computer System (FMCS) to
control Boeing 737-300 commercial aircraft. Same old stuff ...
however if all goes as planned I should return to Seattle in September
of '83 for two or more years. Anyway its back to G.R. this week
(packing is THE PITS,) and back to the cold snowy midwest. Sure
will miss Seattle!
Hope all is well and my wishes for a
Merry Christmas go out to you and yours.
P.S.- You wouldn't believe the amount
of mistakes
I made in typing this up ...
