spellings of Nicholas' first (Nicolaus*) and last name (Hoemans and Haymanns).
There is also an alternate spelling of Jacoba's last name (Sponk). For this tree, the last name spellings found
the most in recorded genealogical records were used.
It seems that our generation's "Hooyman" lastname version
morphed over time quite a lot in both Germany and the
Netherlands even before John Jacob Hooyman came to America
in 1865.

After losing his right arm in a paper machine accident there,

became a salesman at Appleton Marble and Granite Works. Ryan was an avid gardener, keeping a

help feed them during hard times.
Bertha was a mother/homemaker and worked at a bakery. She
moved with her family from Germany to Wisconsin in 1891.

Robert was an auto mechanic company owner and worked his last
20 years for the Kramer-Ridge Company on Harris Ave in
Appleton, WI. Robert was a 30 year veteran of the
Wisconsin National Guard, joining Company D 127th Infantry
in 1926, later transferred to the 120th Field Artillery
Band, and returned to the 127th Infantry in 1940.
Robert was also a 1st Sergeant on active duty at Fort Lewis,
Washington from 1961 to 1962 getting his discharge
papers in 1965.

Millie was a secretary for a lawyer named Harry Hoffel, and
was a secretary for the Institute of Paper Chemistry for 15+
years until her untimely death at age 58.
