Nora, the girls and I made a half dozen $2 bets and ended up breaking even for the day.  My method was to watch the horses at the pre-race walk around the stables and bet on the one who looked ansy but still composed.  The girls bet on the horses with cool names.  Their much less scientific approach worked much better than mine!
