In June I decide to investigate why the paint is bubbling up on the outside of our kitchen solarium window ... only to discover that the wood crumbles under my touch.  About 25% of the backyard facing structure has been soaking up water through insufficient caulking for the past 8 years since the siding was replaced as a part of a class action lawsuit on
L-P siding in 2001.  Thus starts a 2 weekend project to pull off all the siding, cut out all the dry rot in the OSB plywood, cedar facia, underlying 2x6 framing and the crawl space casement windows, then replace the siding and repaint.  The estimate to repair was for over $2000, so I decide to do it myself for $150 worth of wood and about 20 hours of labor.
