The form for the steps is very complex.  The steps themselves are curved bowed out 4 inches in the center.  As the cement dries, the guys pull the 2x2 boards out holding the bowed step forms in place and fill their holes with cement.  They then do a second round of smoothing and at last pull off the 2x8 step form boards.  Very well orchestrated piece of work.
