After 13 years of wear and tear (and spills), the family room carpet had to go.  The hallway and kitchen hardwood floor also had over a decade of scratches and bruises from dogs (previous owner), cats, kids and accidents.

Since we were leaving for a weeklong cruise over the Thanksgiving holiday, it seemed like a good time to take care of both issues.  We decided to replace the family room carpet with hardwood flooring and have the existing hardwood floors refinished.

Prior to leaving I had to remove the baseboard molding and rip out the old carpet and padding in the family room.  This is the start of that project.
