I moved the washer and dryer under a casement window and added a sink, clothes folding area and inexpensive set of cabinets for storage in the open laundry room in the basement.  I recessed the wall and made the cabinet a built-in to follow the idea of the upstairs dining room hutch. On the other side of the wall from the sink is the new bathroom I put in, so adding the plumbing for the laundry room sink and washer was a no-brainer.
