I found that it was fairly impossible to level the backyard with the backhoe/loader (high center of gravity and too bouncy), so the following weekend we rented a small "bobcat".  Nora wanted to do the leveling, so she spent most of the weekend moving dirt and meticulously tracking back and forth to level the main backyard area.
