Lawrence August Steffens
Lawrence Augustine Steffens
Age 72, passed away at his home at 9 a.m. Thursday after a long illness.  He was born December 22, 1894 in Black Creek and had been an Appleton resident since 1929.  He was employed at Appleton Coated Paper Co. for 27 years until his retirement due to ill health in 1959.  Mr. Steffens was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Therese Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic War Veterans, having served in the Army in World War I.

Survivors are his wife, Dora; three daughters, Mrs. Cecelia Smith, Mrs. Donald (Margaret) Baer and Mrs. Donald (Mary) Keller, all od Appleton; six sons, Edward, Milwaukee, Charles, Memphis, Tenn., Florian, Culver City, Calif., Lawrence Jr., Appleton, Eugend, Neenah, Kenneth, at home; two brothers, Leo, Appleton, and Paul, Seymour; 29 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Therese Catholic Church with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.
