Dora Harriet (Steffens) Ebben
Mrs. Lawrence  A. Steffens (Dora Ebben) of 118 N. Hall Ave., Appleton passed away at 7:30am Saturday following a lengthy illness.  She was born March 8, 1899 in Freedom, where she lived until moving to Appleton in 1928.  Mrs. Steffens was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, Third Order of St. Francis, The Monte Alverno Retreat Guild, the Golden Agers Club, the AARP, the World War I Veterans Auxilary and was a past president of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary.  She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Cecilia Smith, Mrs. Donald (Marge) Baer and Mrs. Donald (Mary) Keller, all of Appleton; six sons, Edward, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Charles, Lawrence Jr. and Kenneth, all of Appleton, Florian, of Culver City, Calif., and Eugene, of Madison; one brother, Joseph Ebben, Appleton; four sisters, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Sachs and Mrs. Josephine Feavel, both of Appleton, Mrs. George (Rose) Scheibe, Freedom, and Mrs. Jerome (Agnes) Heindel of Kaukauna; 30 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967 and also by two brothers and two sisters.  The complete funeral will be conducted at 10:30am Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.  The Rev. Gerald S. Falk will officiate.  Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 3-9pm Monday and after 8am Tuesday until the cortege leaves for the church.  There will be a prayer and scripture services at 8pm Monday.
