The standalone shelving unit I made 20 years ago fit perfectly between the house entrance recess and the recess for the third garage bay, so we painstaking moved it (it was mega heavy) with floor slides, a hand truck on one end, a few 2x4s I used as levers and a lot of effort.  We then moved the refrigerator next to it.  Behind the fridge I put my tool cabinet and used that area for some other storage as well.
